One way of defining social justice is equality for everyone regardless of their differences among other people. Unfair movements happen everyday when we observe how the world is doing. For example, in some countries, women have severely limited rights, children are abused with extreme working conditions, and there are people judging other people disrespectfully because they're different from them. Justice needs to take place in order to make it easier for the earth to continue breathing.
In the book Shine written by Lauren Myracle, I've noticed unjustness themes with the characters that are portrayed in the novel. One character was Patrick, who was raised by his grandmother and he has a tender heart toward the people around him. He was a great friend to a girl named Cat, a lovable grandson to his grandmother, and he is someone who follow the right direction is life. However, in the story, Patrick is into boys rather than girls which made bullies turned their attentions toward him. They gave him ugly names and criticized his brightly colored pants when other boys were dressed in jeans. This is not right because just because someone's preference is not common, unfamiliar, and different from other people, it's cruel, mean, and disrespectful to make fun of their choice. Everyone should be equal and have their own freedom of preference to their choices.
I find it difficult to understand how some people can't just accept the person as she/he is. If it's really hard and impossible to accept the person, one solution is to not show it and keep it inside to prevent making mean remarks about them since we're all humans and therefore, have feelings and that can be sensitive at times. I think the people who made it hard for Patrick just because he's interested in guys and not girls show how ugly they are inside. We all have the choice of comfortably choose what we want and what we preferred. When our choice is not the same as everybody else in your world, it doesn't mean we deserve the lack of respect received. All in all, we are the same under one clear blue sky, let's make it a beautiful place to live in.
